Songfacts®:

  • This was an experimental demo that the Small Faces knocked up in the studio one night. It was intended to be an album track or even a flipside but they never looked on it as a potential hit single. However, much to the band's annoyance it was released by their manager Don Arden and Decca for the Christmas market when they were on tour. Drummer Kenney Jones recalled to Uncut magazine: "When we realised it had been released behind our backs it was just awful."
  • The single reached #4 on the UK singles chart. However, despite being a hit, its unauthorised release resulted in the end of the Small Faces relationship with both Arden and Decca.
  • The song borrows part of the melody from the Christmas carol, "Angels From The Realms of Glory."

  • Maxwell Raboin from Madison, WiI think its a fantastic song. Definitely rank it high alongside Itchycoo Park and Tin Soldiers. Has a nice Beatlesque sound to it as well.
