Songfacts®:

  • The first single from Solange's third album finds her singing of heartbreak. It was penned by the songstress alongside British songwriter and producer Dev Hynes, who is also known as Lightspeed Champion and Blood Orange. Hynes' resume includes previous collaborations with Florence and the Machine and The Chemical Brothers. The song marked Solange's first release as a signee of the independent label, Terrible Records.
  • The Melina Matsoukas ("We Found Love," "Your Body") directed video was shot in documentary style in Cape Town, South Africa around early September 2012. It documents the stylish members of the Le Sape Society (Society for the Advancement of People of Elegance). Solange explained: "When Melina and I decided to film 'Losing You' in South Africa, we really didn't have a real firm concept in place. It was sort of a grab a camera and let's go moment. "I knew I wanted to capture a couple things," she continued, "the vibe of our friendship and all of the crazy escapades we've gotten ourselves into all over the world, and the abstract and elegant Le Sape Society formed in the Congo, which was documented by Daniele Tamagni in his Gentleman of Bacongo. We called Daniele to guide us, and some of my friends from New York came down to Cape Town and we all had a very damn good time."

Solange wore for the clip selected clothes by local designers including bright prints by Loin Cloth & Ashes as well as pieces by Gavin Rajah.
