Songfacts®:

  • This dance number is a joint venture between British pop singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Dutch DJ Armin Van Buuren. The song was released as the second single taken from Ellis-Bextor's fourth studio album, Make a Scene, and the second from Van Buuren's fourth album, Mirage. Ellis-Bextor said on her website that it was "fun" working with Van Buuren, adding "I love trying out new things. Armin's sound is different but he's at the top of his game and I think what makes his stuff special is that it crosses over."

"I love the track we did together and I am not a trance kid," she continued. "That's what sets him apart I guess - he is informed by different genres while he plays what he plays."
  • Whilst van Buuren performed a remix of the song live in some festivals across Europe throughout the summer of 2010, the single was performed for the very first time acoustically by Sophie Ellis-Bextor on BBC Radio 2's The Dermot O'Leary Show on July 20, 2010.
  • The video was shot in the San Antonio and the Amnesia Club, Ibiza, Spain on the 1st and the 3rd of August, 2010. British director Sophie Muller helmed the clip. Van Buuren told MTV News: "Sophie [Ellis-Bextor] was very keen on working with Sophie Muller. She's like the name in music video production. We wanted a video that was very beautiful. Sophie Ellis-Bextor is a beautiful person to look at. She's an amazing performer, and I was like, 'I have my residency at Amnesia [a marquee club on the island], why not just do a video in Ibiza?' And everybody was like, 'OK!'"

Intercut with shots of Ellis-Bextor soaking up the sun is a club scene showing the pair performing the song. Van Buuren told MTV News the shoot was the first live attempt at the song in which the duo performed. Said the Dutch trance music star: "It was really crazy because we only had one take to do it live. We had [about] eight cameras rolling, and it was like, 'Sophie is gonna be here. She's gonna rock the track live for you guys. We are shooting a video and we only have one take to do it. So you better be enthusiastic!'"
  • British electronic songwriters, the Nervo sisters, wrote the song's euphoric lyrics. Miriam and Olivia Nervo also co-penned David Guetta and Kelly Rowland's hit "When Love Takes Over."
