Songfacts®:

  • This collaboration with 50 Cent came about when Soulja Boy was showing off his collection of DeAndre Way beats to the New York rapper. He explained to Billboard magazine: "I played 50 the album and he was like, 'Next… next… next…'. And 'Mean Mug' came on and he was like, 'Oh wait, what's that? Whoa, that's the one! I have to get on that one.' That's 'Mean Mug.'"
  • Soulja Boy told MTV's RapFix Live how 50 Cent stuck up for him in his early days when his hip-hop cred was questioned. "To have 50 have my back, that's definitely exciting, it's an achievement. 50 don't mess with no rappers," said the Crank That hitmaker. "When I came out, there [was] a lot of people that was hating on me [and] felt like I wasn't real to the game — don't hate the player, hate the game — 50 shed light on me and he came to my defense."
  • This was Haiti-born and Brooklyn-raised producer Rico Beats' first major placement. Later, he cooked up "Roman Reloaded" for Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and "40 Acres" for Pusha T's My Name Is My Name. Following a stint in A&R at Def Jam Recordings, he co-managed Pop Smoke, fostering his transformation from a local Brroklyn act into a global powerhouse.
