Songfacts®:

  • Unlike Spanky & Our Gang's biggest hit "Sunday Will Never Be The Same," this song has a happy theme of people taking pleasure in doing whatever they enjoy with people they love on a beautiful, sunny day. Although this song failed to make the US Top 10, it stayed in the US Top 40 four weeks longer than "Sunday Will Never Be the Same."
  • This was written by Tony Powers and George Fischoff. Fischoff's other songwriting credits include Keith's hit "98.6" and the Broadway musical Georgy!.
  • The band changed two lyric lines in this song when they recorded it. The last line of the chorus was originally "Lazy day 'n you and me," but the band replaced "'n" with the word "for." According to Sharon Bach, the wife of founding member Oz Bach, the last line of the first section of the second verse was originally "Flowers bloomin', squirrels sayin' hello," but lead singer Elaine "Spanky" McFarlane did not like that line and replaced the word "squirrels" with "children." >>>
