Songfacts®:

  • Whilst touring the UK with Radiohead in 1996, Sparklehorse main man Mark Linkous collapsed unconscious in his London hotel room after ingesting alcohol, Valium and antidepressants. He lay undiscovered for 14 hours, having cut off the circulation in his legs, until paramedics attempted to revive him. In the process he suffered a heart attack and was technically dead for a few minutes. He spent three months at St Mary's hospital in Paddington undergoing surgery and rehab on his legs. This song was written in tribute to the hospital's doctors and in particular two Irish nurses.
