  • After breaking up in 2001, Spice Girls reunited in 2007 with all five original members (Geri Halliwell left the group in 1998). "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" was their reunion song, coinciding with their tour and release of their greatest hits album.

    The song was co-written and produced by the team of Richard Stannard and Mike Rowe, who also produced the Spice Girls' first two albums. Stannard and Rowe wrote the song with the five group members. According to Stannard, the song is "about the headlines in your real life rather than your public persona; getting married, having kids."
  • This song was chosen to be the official 2007 BBC Children in Need single.
  • Geri Halliwell told the BBC breakfast show GMTV: "It's a Spice Girl classic. We are so proud of it. We started putting words down before we even had the finalized 'yes' from everyone."
  • "Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)" was the first Spice Girls release since the Double A-side "Holler"/ "Let Love Lead The Way" in 2000 and their first recording to feature the group's original lineup since Geri Halliwell left in 1998. During their first run, nine of their 10 singles went to #1 in their native UK; "Headlines" stalled at #11, as Spicemania had long since abated. The individual members did quite well on their own, though, with everyone except Victoria Beckham landing a UK #1 solo hit. And Beckham came close, peaking at #2 with "Out Of Your Mind."
  • The "Friendship Never Ends" subtitle is a reference to a line in their first hit, "Wannabe," which became their mantra.

  • Susan from ManchesterSorry Geri but I wouldn't really class this as a 'Spice Girls classic.' The reworked live version that was performed on the Return of The Spice Girls 2007-2008 Tour was a lot better than the released version. Was a little bit disappointed this song was left out of the 2019 Tour set-list as their back catalogue is hardly exhaustive.
