  • Formed from the remains of Jefferson Starship (which was formed from Jefferson Airplane). Jefferson Starship ended when guitarist Paul Kantner and multi-instrumentalist David Freiberg left.
  • All of the founding members had played with Jefferson Starship. Thomas joined in 1979, Baldwin in 1982, Sears, Chaquico, and Slick in 1974.
  • After these guys broke up, Kantner reclaimed the name Jefferson Starship and toured with some fresh faces and some former members, but none from Starship.
  • Enjoyed more commercial success than any of the previous incarnations.
  • Thomas formed "Starship with Mickey Thomas" after this group disbanded. The only similarity to the original group other than Thomas was Bloomfield.

  • Ralph O. from UsaNot a fact: "Formed from the remains of Jefferson Starship (which was formed from Jefferson Airplane)." Jefferson Starship ended when guitarist Paul Kantner and multi-instrumentalist David Freiberg left." The facts are that the band Starship was simply a name change when Kantner alone left and the name "Jefferson" was officially retired so the same band just changed its name to Starship and continued on; it did not form from remains. All of the members were the same, including Freiberg, except for Kantner. David Freiberg was also in Starship for a short time but was fired by the band before Pete Sears was also fired. You can see David Freiberg in the very early Starship band promotional photos. He should be on your list of "Starship Artistfacts" for just 1985 like Pete Sears.
