Songfacts®:

  • Francis Rossi wrote this song about the band's role in music at the time. He speaks of how many bands have tried and failed to do what Status Quo does: Blues. He is commenting on the artists trying and failing to replicate blues with the proper 'Feel,' hence the faking of the Blues.
  • Regarding the lyrics: "Isn't it time for a turnaround," a turnaround is used by Blues musicians to end a section of the song like a verse or chorus, something that Rossi clearly believes people "don't know."
  • Like many Status Quo songs, this is a Shuffle, giving the song a Bluesy feel. >>>
