Songfacts®:

  • Darak Figeroua is a rapper based in Richmond, Virginia, who performs under the name StaySolid Rocky. Figeroua first released this ode to a hard-partying woman on September 30, 2019. Interest in the song gathered momentum after it went viral on the video app TikTok; it debuted on the Hot 100 dated May 9, 2020.
  • StaySolid Rocky wants to be with the girl, but his love for her is unrequited.

I been tryna reach for it, but it's too far above me
I ain't never do you wrong, so tell me why you don't trust me

The girl is "not a wifey type." All she wants to do is party.
  • Nashi handles the production. His other credits include Rod Wave's Ghetto Gospel track "Green Light."
  • StaySolid Rocky came up with the song's concept in July 2019. He combined the idea with a relationship-situation he was in at the time. Rocky explained to Billboard: "It wasn't about her, but there were some things I said like, 'I'm tryna be with you, so you don't be without me.'"

After penning the love-drunk track, Rocky laid it down at his friend's home studio.
  • StaySolid Rocky elaborated to Genius about the girl that partly inspired this song. He explained that every time he was on the phone with this lady, she'd be drunk and high. He'd be high too, so when he called her they'd be turned up together. One day he played Nashi's beat, and thinking about her came up with "Lil' mama party girl, she just want have fun, too." Rocky then just took it from there.
