Songfacts®:

  • The lyrics, "Kiss me with your mouth, your love is better than wine" are from the Song of Solomon in The Bible.
  • This was produced by J.J. Jeczalik, who was a key member of The Art of Noise.
  • Duffy was an original member of Duran Duran, but left in 1979 to go solo before Duran Duran exploded onto MTV. Duffy helped create The Lilac Time in 1987. They attracted a college radio following and produced a few albums before breaking up in 1991.
  • This was Duffy's biggest hit. In America, it became a club favorite and a staple on alternative radio stations though it failed to chart. His only other UK hit was his follow up "Icing On The Cake," which peaked at #14. >>>

  • Big Tommy from Los AngelesTin Tin was actually the first vocalist for Duran Duran, as he and Nick Rhodes were besties. Stephen left DD, thinking the project was going nowhere. Duffy and Rhodes later reunited for other projects, but it will always be wondered if Duffy traded in long term success for a 1-hit-wonder.
  • Myla from San Diego, CaThis song had heavy airplay on 91X in San Diego during the early 8o's. Ah, the exciting memories of hearing cool new wave music for the first time!
  • Dave from Cardiff, WalesYes he did, one of his albums was entitled "THEY CALLED HIM TIN-TIN"! Did he have a ginger quiff or something?!
  • Keith Major from Bristol, EnglandIf I remember correctly, Duffy had the recording name of Stephen "Tin-Tin" Duffy.
