Songfacts®:

  • Human is a concept album inspired by a trip Steve Angello made to his hometown church in Stockholm during a period where he considered walking away from music. The record was previewed by three EPs signifying different stages of his life: Act I - Genesis, Act ll - Inferno, and Act lll – Paradiso. This synth-heavy track comprises one half of Genesis and contains lyrics about Angello's state of mind before he finds salvation on the other song, "Rejoice."
  • The song features Paul Meany, the lead singer and keyboardist of U.S. rock band Mutemath crooning about "dead end conversations high on chemical sensations." Angello said:

"The genius song melody, writing and performance floored me first time I heard it. It represents the soundtrack of my life, melodically and musically it hits every emotion I have for display. It moves me into melancholy happiness, while delivering the highest form of nostalgia."
