Songfacts®:

  • Steve Aoki's trap beat provides the background for some rhymes by the Migos trio and a heavily Auto-Tuned verse from Lil Yachty. Migos and Lil Yachty previously teamed up for the latter's "Peek a Boo" single.
  • Steve Aoki debuted the hip hop track back on May 6, 2017 in front of 25,000 people at Austin's JMBLYA festival.
  • Aoki considers this to a track a fan can listen to it in any environment. He explained to Billboard magazine:

"It's a summer jam, for sure. You can listen to it in the car, in your bedroom, pre-gaming, at a club, or any environment. There's so much personality on the song because Migos is triple personalities. Then, you have Yachty. You have so much personality all over the record."
  • The song was recorded in Atlanta at Migos' studio, Aoki recalled to Billboard magazine playing Quavo a beat that would eventually become the track. "In literally, I'd say like 30 minutes, he comes up with the hook that is 'Night Call,'" he said.
  • The song first came together after the Atlanta stop of Steve Aoki's Dim Mak 20th anniversary tour.

"It started out with me and Quavo," the producer recalled to Genius. "Quavo came up with the hook, great hook and his verses and then Lil Yachty showed up and he was like, 'I'm down.' It was after two in the morning and he popped in. He said that in his lyrics, then he jumped in the booth. I saw him and I'm like, 'What the f--k. You're here too? Holy s--t, I can get you on a song, man?' He's like, 'I love the beat, I love the vibe.' He jumped in the booth and laid down his parts."
