Songfacts®:

  • This song was one of the songs that changed the most while Steve Barton was writing Projector. It was modeled after The Beatles' hit song "I'm Only Sleeping" and was originally written in a lower key. The title of the song was "Inside Joke" before it was changed to "Please."
  • Upon hearing this song for the first time, producer Martin Etzioni suggested that Barton should re-write it in a higher key and scream it out a little more. When Barton started bashing the new version out, both he and Etzioni loved it and thought it would be a great song to play live.
