Songfacts®:

  • This dancehall-inflected feel-good anthem is the title track of the collaboration album between former The Police frontman Sting and Jamaican singer Shaggy. The song's name is a combo of the country codes for Sting's native England and Shaggy's Jamaica. Shaggy explained:

"It all ties back to 44/876. The Englishman comes to Jamaica and is embraced by all these Jamaicans, showing the influence he has had on the island as much as the island has had on him. All that really transcends to the type of music we are making. From the 44 to 876, we are connected."
  • The song features Jamaican dancehall star Aidonia and Grammy-winning reggae band Morgan Heritage and is produced by reggae legend Sting International (who is responsible for Shaggy's "Oh Carolina" "Boombastic" and "It Wasn't Me") and Dwayne "iLL Wayno" Shippy.
