Songfacts®:

  • A band composition from Stone Temple Pilots first album, this song is about going where life takes you:

I wanna be big as a mountain
I wanna fly high as the sun

They came up with the riff the first time they jammed with Dean DeLeo, who replaced Corey Hickok on guitar. Dean is five years older than his brother Robert, the band's bass player, and it took some convincing to get Dean on board. When he joined them on his first jam, his new bandmates were blown away, and Scott Weiland wrote the lyrics based on that feeling. "To us, Dean's playing was big as a mountain and high as the sun," he said in his 2011 autobiography. "He pushed us up to a heavenly place."
  • Running 8:25, this is the longest song in the Stone Temple Pilots discography.

  • Jim from Stonerville, Calove this song. but it sounds exactly like another song i love. round and round by aerosmith. just thought i'd mention it.
  • Adrian from Brookings, SdContains one of the best STP lines ever, "I'm losin' a game of reality dice where the dealer never, never pays." It's one of those clever metaphors in a song that really hits you and then makes you relate it to the harder times of your own life
