  • Strapping Young Lad is the band that Canadian metalman Devin Townsend formed after leaving Steve Vai's group, VAI. A track from their fourth album, Townsend told us the story behind "Love?" in our 2013 interview:

    I was terrified of having kids at that point, and I wanted to make a statement. Speaking of being high, I was messed up for that record. So I think there was a part of me that was just so afraid of committing to anything that put me in a position of having to confront parts of my nature that I was uncomfortable with, that my initial reaction to anything like that was just hostility. So "Love?" was meant as an ironic examination of what it meant to be responsible.
