  • In 2011, Stryper released an album of cover songs by some of the bands that were a big influence on them, and in a Songfacts conversation with lead singer Michael Sweet, he said that "More Than A Man" was based on one of these tracks. Said Sweet: "you listen to the song 'Lights Out' by UFO and you compare it to a song that we have called 'More Than A Man,' it's a very similar riff, it's the same riff: da-da-da-da-da-da-dum-dum-a. Same kind of feel. Different melody, different lyric and whatnot. But you can hear the influences of these bands and these songs within the Stryper catalogue."
  • Like many of Stryper's songs, "More Than A Man" is about God. Stryper used the fame from their MTV hit "Honestly" to help spread their Christian message, which included a practice of throwing Bibles from the stage during their concerts. Many Bibles would be found on the ground until they started putting Stryper stickers on them, which made them more of a collector's item. Sweet told us: "We figured if it's just a souvenir and that's how they view it, maybe someday they'll read it. Sure enough, we get story after story of people that say after a year or two or three of collecting dust, I opened it up and read it."
