Songfacts®:

  • Superorganism is an art pop band that formed in early 2017. The group consists of eight members, including Japanese lead vocalist Orono Noguchi, alongside four members of the band The Eversons: Christopher Young (Harry), Mark Turner (Emily), Tim Shann (Tucan), Blair Everson (Robert Strange) plus female co-singers from New Zealand, Ruby and B and, South Korean background vocalist Soul.
  • This is Superorganism's first single. Harry told the BBC how they created the song over e-mail

"Me and some of the guys in the band had tried in vain to record a garage rock album," he recalled, "and by the end of that process, we came home and we were just like, 'We don't want to play loud guitars and drums in a room any more.'"

Orono Noguchi was still attending John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor, Maine, United States at the time. A fan of The Eversons, she was one of Harry's Facebook friends. After discovering the Japanese teenager could sing, the group invited her on a whim to add lyrics and vocals to their demo of "Something For Your M.I.N.D."
  • Orono wrote and recorded her vocals within an hour and sent it back. "Well," she told NME, "I am a bored teenager."
