Songfacts®:

  • This song may sound enigmatic but when the background to it is revealed it is not so much humorous as uncharacteristically cruel. In her autobiography, Unzipped, Quatro writes, "We were at a gig in Manchester when there was a knock on the dressing room door and in walked this transvestite wanting an autograph."

At that time her band members used to grease themselves up with glycerine, which made their bodies shine; her lead guitarist (and future first husband) Len Tuckey put on a friendly face, asking "Oi, mate, do you want a drink?" This individual said he would, so Tuckey poured some glycerine into a pint glass, and "he drank it straight down without stopping."
  • In the same book, Quatro boasts that she assaulted singer-songwriter Lynsey de Paul after hearing she had branded her a dyke; Lynsey said she was misquoted. >>>
