Honor is Ours

Songfacts®:

  • This song was written for the 2012 animated movie Foodfight!, which features voices from Hollywood actors such as Charlie Sheen, Hillary Duff, Eva Longoria, Wayne Brady and Christopher Lloyd. This voice talent was squandered, as the movie went horribly wrong, looking more like a 2003 video game than a feature film. The principals seem to have (understandably) divested themselves from the film, as there is little trace of it - or this song - out there.
  • Country and progressive rock writer, Dean Madonia, received the opportunity to co-write "Honor is Ours" through his friend, Keith Ridenour. Threshold Entertainment was looking for music for Foodfight!, and Ridenour had a connection with the company. They co-wrote the song with Madonia's friend, Scott Avery, who wrote most of the lyrics for it.

Dean Madonia told us the process for getting the tune into the movie: "I looked at the scenes and saw the description of what they wanted. They described that slot as somewhere between Prince and Pink Floyd."

He elaborated, "I thought that scene was going to be the easiest one to get because everybody wasn't going to be all crazy about it. At that time, people were still all worked up about the war so I was trying to think of it from the soldier's point of view, even though the song was written for cartoon characters."
