Songfacts®:

  • This song was inspired by Bob Dylan's answer to a 1991 Rolling Stone question about whether he was happy. "These are yuppie words; 'happiness' and 'unhappiness," he replied. "It's not happiness or unhappiness; it's either blessed or unblessed."
  • A video was filmed for the song in anticipation of it being released as the first single from Nothing Is Sound. However, "Stars" was chosen to lead the album instead and it was never formally released. The clip was later included on the DVD Switchfootage 2.
