Sydney Rose

Sydney Rose Artistfacts

  • 2003
  • Sydney Rose is a singer-songwriter whose music often explores themes of relationships, heartbreak, anxiety, and personal struggles.
  • Rose grew up in a small town outside Atlanta, experiencing a wide range of music from a young age. Her parents and brother were all music lovers, though none of them played instruments or sang professionally.
  • Rose began singing in her church worship group and later joined her school chorus and took part in theater. She started playing music by picking up a ukulele, then took piano lessons and eventually taught herself to play the guitar.
  • She gained popularity during the pandemic by posting cover songs on TikTok. Her cover of "Turning Page" by Sleeping At Last was particularly successful, amassing over 30 million streams.
  • Rose was an artsy kid, and when she started penning her own songs, she found songwriting therapeutic and a natural progression of her artistic expression.

"I really wanted to be an animator when I was really young and so I've always had creative outlets," she told The Luna Collective. "And because I was also a really quiet, self conscious kid, I never really thought that I could do something as great and creative as making a song in the same way that I like to paint or draw or write."
  • Rose's debut EP, You Never Met Me, was well-received, and she later released her debut album, One Sided, which explores themes of grief and growing up. The album features a stripped-back sound, often just Rose with a guitar or piano.
