  • Take That are democratic concerning who sings on which songs. Most of the time it falls naturally, but Mark Owen confessed to Observer Music Monthly that his wish to sing this song's bridge didn't come to fruition. Said Owen: "I was hoping it'd be my role, you know: [He sings] "Everyone! Everyone!" I was really looking forward to that... and as we were getting to it, I was getting ready to sing, and... Howard sung it. And it sounded... better."
  • This song is about living life to the fullest, making the most of all opportunities, and showing love to those around us while we still can. As Gary Barlow sings in the anthemic chorus: "This is the life we've been given, so open your mind and start living. We can play our part if we only start believing."
  • The music video for "The Garden" was shot in black and white at the National Maritime Museum in London. It depicts the band singing in the grounds of the museum alongside blurry shots of people going about their everyday lives. Take That reportedly disliked the video, and the clip is not available through the band's official YouTube channel.
  • During The Circus Live Tour, Take That performed this song on the back of a gigantic mechanical elephant. The elephant, which was built by the British special effects company Asylum, emerged from the center stage and was operated by nine performers.
  • "The Garden" was the third single unveiled from Take That's fifth studio album, The Circus. The song didn't make much of an impression on the chart, peaking at #97 in the UK. This was put down to the fact the band was too busy rehearsing for their upcoming tour at the time to promote the single.

The Circus, on the other hand, was a huge success, peaking at #1 in the UK for five weeks. The album has since gone on to sell over 2 million copies.
