Album: East of Eden (2009)
Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • This is the closing track of, East of Eden, the second album recorded by Swedish singer Victoria Bergsman's solo project, Taken By Trees. The song is a Swedish version of a Hermann Hesse poem, which translated means "Confession." East of Eden was recorded in Pakistan and Hesse was an early traveller to the East before the Hippie trail became trendy. However Bergsman has no interest in eastern enlightenment. She told the Sunday Times August 31 2009: "It summed up how I felt about the recording. You should always be serious and wanting to learn about yourself, but you should also be critical of yourself. Mysticism can be found anywhere."
