Songfacts®:

  • Here, Kevin Parker espouses the technique of deep-breathing to help with staying calm in stressful and negative situations.

Would you say seems you're coming on?
    Breathe a little deeper
Should you need to come undone
    And let those colors run

Methodic, mindful breathing is widely recognized as a means of helping people get through taxing experiences. Parker is instructing someone to loosen up and relax a little, so they can have fun together.
  • During a Beats 1 interview, Parker revealed that "Breath Deeper" was inspired by the experience of shopping while stoned. "I'm most creative when I'm uncomfortable. Like getting high in public," he explained.
  • Tame Impala performed this song and "Lost In Yesterday" during their special guest appearance on the March 2, 2020 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! It marked the first time that either song had been performed on TV.
