Songfacts®:

  • This is one of two songs on Can't Go Back where American folk singer songwriter Grant-Lee Phillips provides guest vocals. It was Tikaram's producer, Paul Bryan, who suggested the collaboration. Tanita told us: "When he came in it was so immediate, the chemistry in our voices, because they are unusual voices. And I love his voice on this, because to me he just sounds like a cowboy who walks into the room, and it kind of twists the meaning of the song. You don't entirely trust him in the song. I really like this ambiguity that he brings."
