Album: Get The Money (2019)

Songfacts®:

  • This song originated with Taylor Hawkins and Duff McKagan recording together in the studio when Hawkins started strumming the track. The Foo Fighters drummer then came up with some lyrics recalling his bad attitude when the band was four months into their exhausting Concrete and Gold tour. He explained to The Sun:

"I was tired because we were playing these three hour shows back-to-back. But at the same time, I was making a ton of money and traveling the world playing to adoring fans. I lost sight of it for a second. So it's about living my dream and being a spoilt brat rockstar."
  • "Get the Money" also features contributions from Joe Walsh and Chrissie Hynde. Hawkins was put in touch with the Pretenders frontwoman through Barbara Gruska, one of the Foo Fighters' backing singers, who had played with Hynde on a solo tour.
