  • On his previous single, "What Was I Drinking," Tebey fails to extinguish the memory of his former flame with alcohol, so this time around, he heads to the beach and hopes his heartache will sink with the sun.

In a 2022 Songfacts interview, the country singer said it all started with a song title. "That song was written with two of my usual songwriting partners, Kelly Archer and Danick Dupelle," he explained. "I wasn't feeling particularly inspired that day, until my co-writer Kelly tossed out an idea she had written down in her phone: the title 'Sink With The Sun.' Two sessions later, we had the song written."
  • Instead of staying in Nashville, Tebey went to Tulum, Mexico, to unwind and write songs for the album, which takes its name from the town. When it came time to film a video for this track, he thought the waters of Tulum were a perfect setting - and they nearly were, aside from all the seasickness. He told Songfacts: "When we chose 'Sink With The Sun' as our next single, I knew immediately I wanted to shoot the music video down in Tulum. The director, Sean Cartwright, really captured the vibe I kept seeing in my head.

We spent a few days with our small crew looking for beautiful locations to shoot our actress Tamara Dominic in and a different spot for me too, including the 60-ft yacht we rented. We envisioned shooting awesome drone footage of me on the front of the boat in open water but didn't anticipate almost everyone getting seasick! We ended up shooting those scenes in the calm waters of the harbor (laughs). Overall, the shoot was very chill and lots of fun. I'm very proud of the video and how it turned out."
  • Tulum is Tebey's fourth studio album, following his hit 2021 release, The Good Ones (which went to #2 on the iTunes Country Album chart and #4 on the iTunes All Genre Album chart). When he's not recording his own music, he's writing songs for other artists. In 2016, Justin Moore had a #1 hit on the Country Airplay chart with the Tebey-penned "Somebody Else Will."
  • Aside from her work with Tebey, Kelly Archer has written tracks for Jason Aldean ("On My Highway"), Reba McEntire ("Enough"), and Trisha Yearwood ("I Remember You"). Danick Dupelle is also known as the guitarist for Canadian country band Emerson Drive.
