Songfacts®:

  • "Walk The World Away" is an uplifting song with a communal vibe in tune with the peace and love ethos of the early '70s. Best heard in a live setting where the crowd can clap and sing along, it asks us to find a better place in this world together.

The song was little heard outside of France, where a version by Mike Brant, translated inauthentically as "L'Amour C'est Ca, L'Amour C'est Toi," spent six months on the charts. In America, the most popular version is by Teddy Brown, a soul singer about whom little is known. Al Head released the most popular version in Australia. The Brown version was backed by "Senorita Rita"; the Al Head recording was backed by the slightly odd self-penned "Margarete Gone Eastern."
  • This was written by a London-based songwriter named Paul Korda, who was in a band called Dada with Elkie Brooks and starred in the London production of the musical Hair. Korda recorded a few solo albums, but his career never took off; it seems he was constantly getting screwed over by record companies and publishers. >>>
