Songfacts®:

  • After releasing "Josephine" as the lead single from Shaving Peaches, Terrorvision put the selection of its follow-up to members of the official fan club, who voted in favor of the ballad "Day After Day." However, BBC Radio One DJ Zoe Ball successfully championed a Mint Royale remix of this anthemic tune as a single. It proved to be the rock band's biggest-ever hit, reaching #2 in the UK charts in January 1999.
  • Terrorvision were denied the top spot by The Offspring, who'd released "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" in the UK at the same time. Terrorvision frontman Tony Wright told TeamRock: "There's no shame in coming second to that. It's a good song, and it was brilliant to have two rock bands at the top of the charts."
  • The song was awarded Best Single at the 1999 Kerrang! Awards.
  • Tequila is a distilled beverage produced in Mexico. Other artists that have released songs inspired by the drink include The Champs, The Eagles, Joe Nichols, Vince Neil and Kenny Chesney.

A longer lasting version of the Aztec drink pulque, the beverage is named after the town of Tequila near Guadalajara, where it is produced.

Without bats there would be no tequila. It’s made from the agave plant, which is pollinated by bats.

The United States officially recognizes that spirits called "tequila" can only be produced in Mexico, although by agreement bulk amounts can be shipped to be bottled in the US.
