Songfacts®:

  • THANKS is comprised of two members of Alphabeat: vocalist Anders SG and guitarist Anders B. With a jacked-up '80s vibe, "Dizzy" plays off many of the American sounds that influence the duo, including funk and dance music.

Like the Tommy Roe hit from 1969, this song is about someone who is so enthralled by another, it makes him dizzy.
  • In our interview with Anders SG, he told us about making this hyperkinetic track. "The vocals on this track all came out of some sessions we did in Copenhagen at the beginning of October last year. We invited some of our friends and fellow artists/musicians to join us, basically fooling around in the studio coming up with different small musical ideas and hooks. Afterwards we sampled one of our own old instrumentals that was lying around on our hard drive and we started chopping up vocals from the sessions to this track in order to make a song.

For the final version we used all the original vocal takes from the different sessions, instead of having one lead singer redo the whole thing, because we really like the energy created by these different voices coming in and out of the track."
  • The video is made up of footage from a Decentralized Dance Party in Paris. Don't worry, we'll explain: a Decentralized Dance Party (DDP) is a party with no central audio source or location. Hundreds of boom boxes are synched to an FM transmitter, and everyone is invited. These things get a little crazy, with lots of dancing bananas. The guys in THANKS loved the concept and hooked up with the DDP team of Tom and Gary to make the video.
