Songfacts®:

  • This ballad finds Matty Healy singing of a dying relationship where he no longer fancies his romantic partner. However, the thought of the girl with another lover still affects him.
  • The song has a similar theme to "A Change of Heart," which is also about a low point in a relationship. In that instance Healy tells his girlfriend: "You used to have a face straight out of a magazine. Now you just look like anyone."
  • The song was officially premiered as Zane Lowe's World Record on Beats Radio 1 on February 15, 2016.
  • Matt Healy originally wrote this about his aunt, but when he had an argument with a former girlfriend who thought "A Change of Heart" was about her it got him thinking and he switched its focus.
