Songfacts®:

  • After coming to America as part of the British Invasion, The Animals enjoyed some hits written by American songwriters like Carole King ("Don't Bring Me Down") and Barry Mann ("We Gotta Get Out Of This Place"). By 1967, the band had broken up and re-formed with new musicians backing up lead singer Eric Burdon, and their album Winds of Change had a psychedelic sound with songs they wrote themselves.

In our 2010 interview with Eric Burdon, he told us that this song is the one he's most proud of writing. Said Burdon: "I wrote a song called 'Anything' that's a Love-Generation song. It's more than just a song about a love for your woman; it's about love for everything, from the Earth, to your friends, and even your enemies."
