Songfacts®:

  • This rollicking kiss-off tune was penned by Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Matt Ramsey. It brings a fresh angle to a women-done-wrong song by describing the chopping down of a tree bearing the carving of a heart and a young couple's initials. Like a tattoo, artwork carved into a tree is merely semi-permanent - they can be removed with the right degree of determination.
  • The song's music video was directed by photographer David McClister, who did the artwork for the Pioneer album. It was filmed at two locations in Oregon: Silver Falls State Park near Silverton and the Bottle Factory, a local bar in Stayton.
