Album: Recreational Love (2015)
Play Video

Songfacts®:

  • L.A. natives Greg Kurstin and Inara George wanted to record a track for The Bird and the Bee Recreational Love album paying tribute to their hometown. They decided, as Greg Kurstin put it, to write a "love letter to the city."
  • The video also shows George paying homage to LA. She does this by visiting some of the city's best known landmarks, and leaving her own mark. "I thought it would be interesting to try and express that by gently tagging the whole city with flyers, chalk, washable ink and washable spray paint," she told Billboard magazine. "Can you tell that I am not at all a bad ass?"
  • The song nearly didn't make it onto Recreational Love. Inara George told American Songwriter magazine: "It was such a linear song where we were like, 'Is this good? We can't tell.'"
