• An EDM production duo formed in New York City, Chainsmokers had a breakthrough in 2014 with their song "#Selfie," a sendup of self-indulgent social media culture. The song proved their beat-making bona fides and earned them a record deal.
• Pall finds the vocalists for their tracks. A ravenous listener, he'll listen to hundreds of new songs some days searching for fresh sounds and undiscovered talent. One of their early hits, "Don't Let Me Down," features Daya, who was relatively obscure at the time. The duo prefers lesser-known singers because of their hunger and work ethic.
• Taggart and Pall earned a reputation as sometimes boorish party bros, which is to be expected of DJs whose job is to rock a party. "We're two white guys that like to be friendly, we make stupid jokes and like funny movies, and we like to party," Taggart told Rolling Stone.
• When they hit it big in 2016, they considered moving in together, but decided against it. Each bought estates in Los Angeles (Taggart paid $3.295 million; Pall $2.695 million) to keep some personal distance.
• Andrew Taggart was an aspiring producer and Alex Pall was trying to establish himself on the local DJ circuit, and working at a Manhattan art gallery when they were first introduced to one another by Adam Alpert, who became their manager.
• Pall and Taggart are venture capitalists with interests in the fitness app Fiton and mortgage company LoanSnap. In 2020, they raised $35 million in funding for a venture fund they started called Mantis.
• Drew Taggart married Brazilian model Marianne Fonseca in a small sunset beach ceremony in Costa Rica on December 28, 2025, with only close loved ones present.
