Songfacts®:

  • The Common Linnets are a Dutch country-pop duo originally comprised of singer-songwriters Ilse DeLange and Waylon (real name: Willem Bijkerk). The pair, who had known each other for years, teamed up in 2013 for the following year's Eurovision Song Contest. They performed this song in the competition, finishing runner-up, the highest position for the Netherlands since it won in 1975.

During the Eurovision Song Contest week in 2014, Ilse and Waylon got in a quarrel, and immediately after the Contest, the duo split up. In order to still be able to capitalize on their great achievement at the Contest, it was quickly decided that JB Meijers would take Waylon's place. From then on (the week right after the Contest), JB became the male member of The Common Linnets.
  • Ilse DeLange and JB Meijers wrote the song with American songwriters Rob Crosby (Martina McBride's "Concrete Angel"), Matthew Crosby and Jake Etheridge.
  • The song gained popularity in various European countries reaching the Top 5 in Belgium, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Spain.
