Songfacts®:

  • The Darkness bassist Frankie Poullain sings lead on this track. Frontman Justin Hawkins told About.com: "I had to twist his arm a little bit, but I think he realized that he was able to sing that song in quite the correct way and he's definitely the man for that job."
  • Asked by Artist Direct what it was like taking over lead vocal duties for the first time on this song, Poullain replied: "We all found it fun because in a way it was really inappropriate; your cool, laid back bass player to do this heartfelt, passionate ballad. That is probably why we did it.

It's the darndest thing when you do things that kind of make you smile and then laugh, but it's not camp. It's not bad. You laugh because you're surprised because it's actually really good. So it has that kind of quality, even though it's quite a melancholic song."
