Songfacts®:

  • After a five-year hiatus, the Darkness reunited in March 2011 and performed a comeback show at the Download Festival three months later. This is the lead single from first album released after their comeback, Hotcakes. Frontman Justin Hawkins explained: "We had to stop what we were doing with the album to concentrate on Download, and we knew we needed a dumb, stupid, trite, good, on-point rock song. The chorus wrote itself."
  • Justin Hawkins told The Daily Star that, "it's harder than you might imagine," to write a simple, dumb rock song. "Songwriting is like catching butterflies, he said. "If a big dumb butterfly isn't flying past when you're sitting there with your net, you aren't going to catch one."
  • Guitarist Dan Hawkins said: "We thought we'd finished, but there was a stone in our shoe eating away at us. We needed our (Kiss song) 'Crazy Crazy Nights', and this is it."
  • The song's music video finds Justin Hawkins getting intimate with a bear. He told The Guardian: "It was going to be a monkey, but animatronic monkey faces were too terrifying. So we came up with the bear. Unfortunately, the record company said it would be too expensive to have an animatronic one , so it had to be a guy in a bear costume. With a bra on."
