  • After releasing their first two albums in 2009 and 2010, the supergroup side project The Dead Weather took a few years off before heading back to the studio in 2013. They released the single "Open Up (That's Enough)" that year, then followed it with "Buzzkill(er)" in 2014. They finally got back to the studio in 2015 and completed the Dodge & Burn album, which included these tracks.

    "Buzzkill(er)" was written and sung by frontwoman Alison Mosshart (The Kills) and Dean Fertita (Queens Of The Stone Age), who played guitar on the track. Rounding out the lineup is Jack Lawrence on bass and Jack White on drums. Those two are both members of The Raconteurs; when the band started, Jack White was also a member of The White Stripes.
  • Alison Mosshart told Spin the meaning behind the song: "It's about somebody who's killing your buzz. Doesn't that happen every day?"
  • The album title, Dodge & Burn, comes from the world of photography. Back in the darkroom days, photographers would use chemicals to dodge (darken) and burn (lighten) different areas of the photos. In the digital age, these are tools part of most photo editing software. The band heard the term from a photographer friend.
