Songfacts®:

  • Although the Americana rockers The Drunken Hearts hail from Colorado, they found the inspiration for this tune in a different state. Lead singer Andrew McConathy explained: "This song was sparked on the banks of the Ohio River - we were on tour and Kory [Montgomery, guitarist] had just received the news that his Mom had a stroke, and his family dog had passed away. He wanted to be home with his family, but he was stuck with us in Kentucky. The confluence of the rivers and emotions had a profound impact on us that day, and that is reflected heavily in this song."
