Album: Mean Business (1986)

Songfacts®:

  • The Firm made only two albums, and although its second one, Mean Business, which was released February 3, 1986, was not as successful as the first, making only #46 in the UK, it just missed out on the Top 20 in the much larger US chart, coming in at #22. It was not quickly forgotten though, because three decades later, Thorn St. Germain cited one of its tracks as an influence for "All My Life."

In an interview through his management, he said: "Paul Rodgers sang of 'a perfect Love in a careless land' and I believe that's an ideal worth singing about! Even though that time passed and we moved on, I feel happy when I think about it!"
  • There have of course been many songs called "Dreaming," but this particular one was actually written by The Firm bass player Tony Franklin. Running to a full 6 minutes, it is indeed a dreamy track, and contains some nice, laid back, almost psychedelic guitar work. >>>
