Songfacts®:

  • The lead single from The Fray's Helios album was penned by frontman Isaac Slade with Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic. Tedder is a prolific songwriter who has penned hits for the likes of Leona Lewis ("Bleeding Love"), Beyoncé ("Halo") and Kelly Clarkson ("Already Gone") as well as his own group.

Tedder also produced the track with English knob twiddler Stuart Price who has also worked with The Killers, Madonna and Keane.
  • The video focuses on the band performing at a very rowdy bar, channeling the 1980s classic movie Road House. It features Vampire Diaries actress, Candice Accola, who a few months prior to the filming of the clip, had announced her engagement to The Fray's guitarist, Joe King.
  • The Fray's Joe King has known Ryan Tedder since they were teenagers. "I played high school soccer against him," the guitarist explained to Radio.com. "We connected right when both of our bands were trying to get signed. We were emailing each other, 'Who are you talking to?' We had this artistic trust together against the industry and for each other."

The pair stayed in touch, but this was the first time they'd actually worked together. "It finally got to the point that he said, 'Let's see what happens. Let's write something. We've been friends forever,'" King recalled. "We knocked out the song in an hour-and-a-half."
