Songfacts®:

  • The group finished the track to this song without the vocal part. Lead singer Nick Stumpf was frustrated because he could not come up with adequate vocals. To make fun of himself, he just started singing over it in a falsetto voice. He liked what he heard, so he added harmonies and wrote words, but the process began as a joke.
  • The French Kicks tend to begin the songwriting process with a very simple musical idea and build a track around that. Stumpf says that the melody and lyrics are usually the last thing to come. For this song, Stumpf improvised a melody with a variety of nonsense words and then making them coherent later.
