Songfacts®:

  • The bass line from this song was taken almost directly from the Cure's "Close to Me."
  • This deals with relationships. French Kick's songs like this, "Crying Just for Show" and "Wrong Side" come from things that happened in real life, says main songwriter Nick Stumpf. He keeps the lyrics somewhat vague in order to leave something to the imagination.
  • Stumpf considers lyrics very important, but neither the CD booklet for One Time Bells nor the group's website include printed lyrics. This is because of Stumpf's belief that something that sounds really good can look incredibly stupid when it's written down, especially if it's not prose. The only place you'll find the lyrics written out is in the Japanese version of the CD, because they require lyrics to be printed on the materials there.
