Songfacts®:

  • Hold Steady open their Thrashing Thru Passion album with a character sketch about a guy who has a chance encounter with a girl at a Denver airport bar. She takes him to a few different locations before leaving the guy alone and cashless in a Residence Inn hotel room.
  • Frontman Craig Finn's half-comic, half-cutting story is accompanied by the chomping guitars of Steve Selvidge and Tad Kubler. "Steve Selvidge brought in the music to this song and everyone felt it immediately, it was really fun to play," Finn said. "The story unfolded quickly too. When recording, we remarked that it sounded like it could kick off an album, and so here we are."
