Songfacts®:

  • The Jim Jones Revue is an English garage rock band comprising singer Jim Jones, guitarist and manager Rupert Orton, bassist Gavin Jay, drummer Nick Jones and drummer Elliot Mortimer. Rupert Orton is the brother of Brit Award-winning singer Beth.
  • Jones told The Sun September 3, 2010 that there is a lyrical theme that runs through their material. "Our songs are about living today," he explained. "Getting through the ups and downs of life, love, work and play. We're not a nostalgia band, we don't sing about pink Cadillacs."
  • The song is a single and title track from their second album, Burning Your House Down, which was produced by Jim Sclavunos of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Grinderman. Jones told The Sun the story behind the song: "It's a relationship song. With some people: 'You give 'em an inch and they take a mile.' High Horse is just a positive message about standing your ground and getting things back on to your own terms."
