Songfacts®:

  • Over a strumming acoustic guitar and blurry instrumentation, The Kid Laroi yearns for another chance in an on-and-off relationship. The pair have been in a cycle of breaking up and making up, but this time they've had a fight, she kicked him out of her place, and he fears it's the end. Laroi hopes his romantic partner's feelings for him still run deeper than their conflicts so they can try love again.
  • Laroi first teased "Love Again" on his Instagram live on August 25, 2022. He unveiled the song on December 9, 2022, at the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball in New York, performing it as part of his set to test its vibe. On Christmas Day, 2022, the track leaked in its entirety.
  • Laroi released "Love Again" as the lead single from his debut studio album, The First Time, on January 27, 2023. It continues the same theme of tumultuous relationships on many of the Australian artist's previous singles. "So Done," "Without You" and "Stay" are all about messed up romances and their aftermath.
  • The Kid Laroi wrote "Love Again" with Canadian singer-songwriter Billy Walsh and producers Cirkut and Omer Fedi. Walsh co-wrote the Australian artist's "Without You" and "Thousand Miles" singles. Fedi produced and helped compose seven tracks on Laroi's debut F--k Love mixtape, including the singles "Go!," "So Done," "Without You" and "Stay."

This is Cirkut's first time working with Kid Laroi. The Canadian producer's other credits include Katy Perry's "Roar," Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball," and Ava Max' "Sweet But Psycho."
  • To promote the single, The Kid Laroi partnered with the popular Fortnite video game franchise. During the three-month customized island experience, players get to hear several new Kid Laroi songs, take an excursion through "Laroitown," and attend an in-game concert.
  • The Adrian Villagomez-directed music video shows a love story between Laroi and a blond mannequin. It has drawn comparisons with Ryan Gosling's 2007 film Lars And The Real Girl, about a socially awkward young man's relationship with a lifelike sex doll.
