Songfacts®:

  • Vulnerability washes over The Kid Laroi in "Nights Like This," an emotional track that finds the Aussie artist yearning for a past love on a lonely night. He feels exposed and in need of support, craving the connection they once shared.
  • The melancholic melody and eerie production, crafted by New Jersey musician Clams Casino (known for his work with Jhene Aiko and A$AP Rocky), create a spacey atmosphere that reflects Laroi's longing. He desperately seeks the comfort of his former partner.

Clams Casino caught the attention of The Kid Laroi through a mutual collaborator, Billy Walsh. Although their initial studio session didn't lead to any immediate collaborations, Clams created a captivating beat a year and a half later that he felt aligned perfectly with Laroi's sound.

"I hadn't spoken to Laroi in a long time and I just had a feeling," the producer told Billboard. "I sent him that one and he immediately responded that he loved it and went right in, recorded it on his own and sent it back in like a day."

"He used the MP3 I sent him as-is," he continued. "What came out was pretty much the original demo, which is cool about."
  • Laroi recorded "Nights Like This" for his 2023 debut album The First Time. At 1:26, it's the shortest track on the record (barring the interludes).
  • "Nights Like This" went viral and charted internationally. It was later included as the B-side of Kid Laroi's June 2024 single "Girls."
